Group #1: Mars



1. What does your planet look like?
    Mars is large and red. It is one of the hotter planets because it is 
    an inner planet, which means that it is  
    close to the sun. Much of the surface is made up of rocks. It is
    about 1840 miles across.

2. How far is your planet from the sun?
   Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. That is about 141.6 million
   miles away.
3. What is your planet made of?
    Mars is made up of basalt and iron dust which were both caused
    by volcanoes on Mars. The core of the
    planet is surrounded by a mantel made out of silicates.
4. How did your planet get its name?
    Mars is named after the Roman god Mars. It is also called the red
    planet because of its color.
5. How old is your planet?
    Mars is estimated to be 4.503 billion years old.
